RYE - Rotary Youth Exchange

Each year our District sends out and receives a couple of dozen young people who are in, or have just completed, their last year of high school. The exchange student spends a year in another country sponsored by a local Rotary Club, while a student from there spends time here. Students stay with the families of Rotarians and community members known to Rotary. Some areas of the RI (Rotary International) world also operate shorter exchanges, but Australia being so far away, operates the "Academic" or "Long Term" program, being just on one school year duration.

After being accepted for suitability and directed by your sponsoring Rotary Club, carry out the following steps using your computer.

1. Create a new folder on your hard drive called Youth Exchange - this will make it easy for you to keep and access all of your Exchange correspondence in the one folder.
2. Check your version of Adobe Acrobat and download the latest version to your system and update/install
3. Download the Long Term Rotary Youth Exchange application form from the column opposite and save to the Youth Exchange folder in Adobe Acrobat PDF version. (Right Click and "Save As").
4. Open the Application File and print a draft or working copy. Then carefully examine and understand the directions on page two of the form. Before you start on the application, ascertain what other documents are needed to complete the form.
5. Note the PDF format enables you to enter details in data fields once only and to populate them throughout the document and so avoid multiple entries of information. Clicking on checkboxes will insert an "x"
6. Having entered the information, print off the required 4 copies. When all sections are complete, (Signatures in blue in all copies), take the 4 sets to your club to be signed off - Our Club will forward the sets to the District Youth Exchange Committee Secretary.
